In fact Varadero beach is geographically located on the northern seaside of the narrow 12.4-mile long Peninsula de Hicacos that juts out into the Straits of Florida and is Cuba’s northernmost point. Varadero Beach is the peninsula’s most prized attraction, and when it comes to all inclusive Cuban vacations , the resorts that line this privileged stretch of sand have among them top-of-the-list candidates. Those looking to enjoy Cuba scuba diving and great Cuba fishing will appreciate Varadero, and nearby destinations like the San Miguel de los Baios Resort, and the city of Matanzas make for excellent side trips when vacationing in Varadero Cuba.

Weekly trips are also offered from the Barracuda, Coral & Chapelin dive centers to the Bay of Pigs on the south shore (transportation included, no supplement). Sites in Varadero alone total 21 and highlight shipwrecks, flooded caves, gulf walls, coral barriers and even friendly moray eels. The snorkeling and diving are both reasonable near Varadero (the best reef is a mile/kilometer offshore), although there is much better diving elsewhere on the island. Those who don’t want to get their feet wet can visit a dolphin aquarium or take boat tours that visit the reef. South Florida, exposed to daytime onshore breezes, enjoys comfortable temperatures during much of the year. In South Beach, Miami, the average low temperature in May is 72 degrees, with an average high of 87.2 degrees.

The strand is named Coral because (you guessed it!) there are shallow coral reefs teeming with tropical fish just offshore. Playa Coral is the most popular for snorkeling, being protected from motor craft by those same reefs. Varadero all inclusive resorts excursions include taking a “Jungle Tour” on jet skis, helicopter rides, parasailing or even taking a submarine ride around the offshore reefs. Catamaran trips to Cayo Blancos can be booked at any of the hotels which make for a great day trip. Varadero also stands out for its fine white sand of calcareous origin covering the length of the shore. Being a peninsula it has varied and luxuriant flora and fauna spread out among nearly 10 virgin islets, sea bottoms with more than 40 species of coral, a wide range of fish, lobsters, shrimps, crabs, 70 kinds of mollusks and charming dolphins that can sometimes be seen from the shore or riding a catamaran.

There is no single policy applied along the whole beach – each hotel does things differently. That implies that the policy is something done by individual hotels, and not some government scheme to exclude the locals. Pero lo que a menudo se tiene es el sol hincando las espaldas y sudor corriendo por la frente como si se tratara de una catarata: la playa es una ilusion constante mientras llega el fin de semana. It’s citizens have few rights, and are currently not allowed to travel abroad. By staying in government owned resorts (most of the hotels and resorts in Cuba are owned by the government) you’re helping to prop up an oppressive, human rights abusing regime.
