Sanur is also a popular beach near accommodation that’s not as busy as other parts of Bali, yet still only 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. And that’s exactly the way many visitors like it – a little quieter with not so many hawkers and not as pushy as they are at Kuta. At Nusa Dua and Sanur it is a pale golden color without any ash, and many sand particles are quite large. Sanur was Bali’s first beach resort but still retains its Balinese character and old style village ambiance. It’s also the place for some of Bali’s chic fashion shops, hot hotels and well-known restaurants.
And there are no better views over Sanur beach. If you are bicycling lover, you can enjoy a cycling tour to the villages accompanied by an experienced tourist guide from Sanur Beach Hotel. So for Sanur, lot’s of nice sand, but below the surface there are many problems. We were first interested in the beaches of Bali when a user e-mailed asking why we didn’t include this beach.
Many other general stores in Sanur such as Bagus Store and ABC Store offer cold beer and soft drinks at a fraction of hotel prices. Sanur is protected from the force of the ocean waves by a coral reef offshore, so the waves on the shore are rather small and gentle. This makes it an ideal place for a quiet family swim, wind surfing, boating and water sports. In addition to being home to some of Bali’s best known hotels Sanur is also a very cozy, comfortable residential area. As such it is much quieter than Kuta and has more “Balinese character” than the newer Nusa Dua resort area.
Centrally located on Sanur beach, this resort features 94 rooms in landscape tropical gardens. It is an easy walk to restaurants and shops along the main street of Sanur. For local crafts and artwork, a series of craft villages between Sanur and Ubud in the central foothills is worth browsing. Located here is also a small forest full of monkeys within which are housed 3 sacred temples.
