One of the most exciting things about the African continent is that you can do so many diverse things between borders. And one is checking out the amazing beaches this land has to offer. Since the World Cup in South Africa, we were exposed to some of the most beautiful coastline on the planet. But there are many other places that are worth a visit, too. With this much water bounding all shores, we’ve found a bunch of world class beaches to show. Come join us as we venture into the vast beaches of Africa!
Africa has one of the biggest coastlines on the globe, so why not some of the best beaches? African beaches are generally unique and dramatic, and while people here aren’t drawn to the beaches like you and I, they still enjoy its beauty every day.
Take the pristine African beaches in Cape Vidal or the peaceful beaches of Zanzibar. From Morocco to South Africa, the beaches of Africa are not as frequented by tourists mainly because they aren’t aware they are here. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at these jewels.
North African Beaches
Egypt – Beaches around the Nile Delta, say near Alexandria, and then along the Red Sea offer the most spectacular experiences. Diving in the Red Sea is world class, and many resorts cater to both diver and people who just want to see the Pyramids then relax in the local culture.
South African Beaches
South Africa – There are some sweet beaches along the South African coast and with the World Cup here, if you’re going, why not travel over to Jeffreys Bay and catch some of the world class surfing? The Billabong Pro takes place here as well as other events, because it’s that good!
African Island Beaches
Mauritius – Some of the best beaches are found on the smallest islands and Mauritius is not and exception. With beaches in Pereybere, Flic en Flac, and Ile Aux Cerfs, you know you’re not in Kansas anymore. We go there for the water, the sky, the sand, the peaceful feeling of relaxation when we’re sinking our toes into the warm sand, while listening to the gentle surf meet the shore.
Zanzibar – Off East Africa, this spice island has brilliant white beaches and the most hospitable people. You’ll find old fishing villages to upscale resorts. Make sure to visit the north end of Zanzibar to see the beaches there.
