Known locally as Baia do Sancho and Praia do Sancho this beach recently was named the most beautiful in all of Brazil. Calm waters, electric colors. Just so inviting. You can see forever underwater and can snorkel right off the beach. Full of marine life, Praia do Sancho is perfect for families. It’s a small chore to get to the beach; you can descend down a ladder through rocks, or get here by beach. Isn’t it that way with many striking beaches? But you know, that just adds to the excitement and charm of this beach.
This Baia, or Bay is surrounded by rocky cliff and full of spinner dolphin. A guide can show you how to get the best view of the creatures, protected in this area of the world. But with paradise comes a price: bugs.
Most of the beaches that are secluded on Fernando de Noronha island are full of mosquitoes and sand fleas. Take precaution if you can and wear long clothing when not in the water.
Depending on the season (winter having the most turbid waters) you will experience some wave action in the bay which makes it hard to see distances underwater. What should you expect to see at Praia do Sancho? We mentioned the spinner dolphin, but expect to see turtles as well. You will be greeted by the marine life, fish of many colors and plant life that gives the bay an cozy appeal.
Because Fernando de Noronha is a protected estuary you can only spend a limited time at each beach. The current limit for Praia do Sancho is one hour. And one of our favorite ways to get there is by catamaran. There are several choice operators available. You will have a delicious Brazilian cuisine lunch followed by a cruise into the bay and the opportunity to descend into the water to see the wonder beneath the seas. This is priceless.
But speaking of price, there is a tax per person on the island which is collected at the airport. Currently that is around R$200 (Reais). Enjoy!
