When you think of Brazil, depending on what decade you were born, you think of Rio, maybe Carmen Miranda, the beautiful mountains right next to the sea. There was always the Samba, and the South American Way, and that . Which leads us to tell you - the beaches haven’t changed, at least in beauty - for centuries.

What has changed is the level of security in and around the beaches. But let us preface that with telling you this is only around large populations like .

For instance, in , we found no security threat and a city willing and ready to keep its act clean for the dollar tourism brings.

Where do you start when you think of Brazil, if Rio isn’t all that safe? We suggest that you DO start in Rio, but make sure you are smart about your stay there. Unsafe conditions come when you are alone at night, or have something flashing around that someone might take - such as a camera or jewelry.

There are dozens of locations out of Rio that experience a safe and secure tourism operation. We visited Morro de Sao Paulo and . These two beach cities are so fun and will show you all the charm and culture that Brazil offers.

But don’t stop there. Soon we’re off to famous Fernando de Noronha island where this Brazilian protectorate has become a getaway for the rich and famous. It’s Brazil’s Galapagos, and has fauna you won’t believe!

Next, we’re working on a special which includes the Amazon and Rio Negro rivers. Two fresh water giants that have some of the worlds best inland beaches. Especially the Negro, with its deep, black waters and dazzling white .

Let’s begin in Morro de Sao Paulo, which isn’t even near the megaplex of Sao Paulo. It’s in Bahia, and it’s Next! >>

Your article is right on about Rio. Beaches are great here but you have to watch your stuff. Outside of big cities security is rarely an issue and there are thousands of wonderful unspoilt beaches where you can walk for miles and never see anyone at all. Some of the very best are on the site http://www.hiddenpousadasbrazil.com

I think you have forgotten that Rio is one of the biggest cities in the World.. and like in New York City, México City, Paris or London, Rio have some problems with security BUT you may not to generalize because the touristic neighborhoods in Rio, in the South Zone of the City, Copacabana, Ipanema and etc there´s almost no problems with safety.. What happens is that the far neigborhoods (1 hour from the Downtown or more) there are drugs and dangerous slums.. BUT is not near the Beaches.. we receive millions of tourists from around the World every year in these beaches and the problems we had was just like any other beach city in wolrd, like Cancun, Miami or Ibiza… It´s not like you´ve said. You gotta come to Rio and see by yourself…
