Anguilla - Rendezvous Bay

$130* Rendezvous Bay Hotel & Villas isn't the glitziest resort on the island, but the location is downright spectacular. 46 rooms directly on 50 tropical acres fronting a mile and a half white powdery sand beach.

This recently renovated resort with white tile floors and rattan furnishings is made up of twelve low rise buildings. If you opt for the Garden view, you'll get the least expensive, but no air-conditioning. For air, you'll need to upgrade to a villa ($275).

And here's the order of the day - relax in a true Caribbean hammock, or spend the whole day snorkeling. Your choice. Then at evening gather at the beautiful Cedar Grove, famous for its grilled lobster and goat stew. Leonard "Smoke" Sharplis puts his all into your scrumptious meal.

To get to Anguilla you'll fly to St. Maarten. You then spend 10 or so minutes flying to Anguilla, or take a taxi from the St. Maarten airport to Marigot and take the ferry. The advantage of the ferry is the dock is very near the Rendezvous Bay Resort. You could walk.

Anguilla - Ku Resort

$295 - On the same Caribbean island of Anguilla, from the same hotel group that runs the celebrity hideaway Cap Juluca you'll find Ku. It means "sacred place" in Arawak, the Indian language of the first inhabitants here.

And, Ku is located just minutes away from of the Arawaks former ceremonial sites, thus the name.

The only thing we felt was a little on the small side was the spa and pool. No problem because to make up for it, the beachfront French-Caribbean restaurant, managed by Cap Juluca's chef de cuisine, has the longest bar on the island.
