Beach closures are public health recommendations. The County and the Department of Health do not have the authority to stop you from collecting shellfish. The Beach Closure and Microbial Contamination plan was initiated to address the issue of beach closures and will constitute the fifth action plan as part of the Water Quality Protection Program.
