The Clearest Water Beach

This was one of the hardest missions for me. There are SO many clear water beaches that it is impossible to name them all. But what I ask you to do is write your comments below in the comment box and send pictures to us. The picture below is of the water off Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It does have some clear water when the surf is out. But it can get pretty turbid.

The beaches vary from protected, shallow, clear-water stretches on the northern and eastern sides of the Island to expanses of rumbling surf along the south side. Some beaches are open to the public without restriction, while others are reserved for residents and summer visitors who are staying in the towns where the beaches are located.

The beach at Hilton Head is 12 miles long, and Hilton Head is by far the largest island on the South Carolina coast. It is akin to the famed Sea Islands of the Georgia coast; the island core was formed over 100,000 years ago when sea level was higher than present. And it Thailand, at the southern end of the beach erosion is a problem, while the north-central area can be grotty due to lagoon overflow. Hua Thanon and Bang Kao on the south coast are sleepy but tend towards mudflats at low tide.

When it comes to getting in the water, you should know that surfing is limited to the south side of the pier and boogie boarding is confined to the water north of the pier. Swimming is prohibited in the areas immediately adjacent to the pier.

Klein Curacao is a tiny, idyllic island southeast of Curacao. Day trips are available from a number of dive shops and charter companies. Waters around here are near crystal clear. Not many beaches, and thus the clear water - no silt.

Generally, the further south you go in Florida, the warmer is the water and the climate. A cold blustery day on Honeymoon Island off the coast of Dunedin might result from a cold snap that didn’t quite make it to Naples, for instance. The trestles located at the south end of the beach at San Mateo Point give Trestles Beach (one of the finest surfing areas on the West Coast) its name.

Yes there is a big difference between the north side vs the south side when it comes water color quality. Fly or sail in; the Bahama Islands are just a few miles south of the Florida coast, making it a short and comfortable voyage. Each island is unique, offering its own history and culture. The west side of South Biscayne Bay should have the clearest water and that is where I would look for bonefish and permit to be active. As water conditions settle bonefish and permit will start showing up in the normal shallow flats both along the Oceanside flats and the inshore flats.

But a pair of Barefoot reporters who visited at the end of the tourist season in 2005 say that the resort village of Eliios was pretty much closed up and Chovolo beach, stretching to the south, was almost deserted. They walked along to the large outcrop - this could be a little tricky over the loose stones on the beach, although there was no need for wading. The Ocean North Course and the Ocean South Course each offer players of all abilities the opportunity to play and enjoy two of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the World of Golf. No other place in southern Thailand can rival the natural scenery in the Khao Sok jungle.
