Malapascua Island is, indeed, popular among tourists just for what it is as well as for it does not have. Swimming, snorkeling and diving are the top three advertised activities for tourists on the island. Malapascua Island is popular to tourists who love to swim and snorkel. This has also become a major dive centre, well-known for the crowds of harvester sharks using the marine highway between Cebu and Leyte islands. These beaches are some off the most beautiful in the Philippines. In the resort you can rent dive and snorkel equipment and it’s also possible to book a dive course.
In April 2008 all the cottages and buildings on Malapascua Island, which were built too close to the beach, were demolished by the Philippine government. The demolishing work is finish and everything is now back to normal in Cocobana Beach Resort. It has a blindingly white bounty beach, which is one of the best in the Philippines. Its exceptional long white beach stretches around the south-east coast of the island facing Cebu, Leyte and Biliran.
Genuine Philippino hospitality, the obvious choice for a cool stay, if there are availabilities. There are 20 odd bungalows, all facing the sea; they have a thatched roof, bamboo veranda and the concrete cottages are simple, with a large room and come equipped with a bathroom. Philippine Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, links Manila to 26 cities and in 19 countries worldwide. Manila’s strategic location makes it a vital point on major international routes.
It is a divers paradise. It is also a perfect place for non-divers who can just stroll around, explore or sunbathe. Apart from this Island there are two nearby shoals with similar profiles: Ormoc and Nunez Shoal.
Starting december 1st, 2008 also four beachfront deluxe rooms with airconditioning and hot water will be available. Malapascua Exotic is located in a corner of famous Bounty Beach, just far enough from the more crowded main beach to give it a secluded and tropical feeling. The resort has about 30 rooms and bungalows, is extremely clean and well maintained, under Dutch / English family style management and known for its relaxed atmosphere. However the hawkers on the beach will be happy to arrange a “special,” which means a private boat just for your party. A typical price for a special is around 800 pesos (a little under $20 USD).
It is located within easy walking distance from the main tourist beach but far enough to give it a secluded, relaxing island atmosphere. The resort is blessed with the turquoise-blue clear Visayan sea in front with its depth gradually increasing making it safe for swimming. Dano Beach resort is at the far end of the white beach. Bungalows cost Php 1,200 -- which is not a lot UKL12 / US$25 but service was appaling. Exotic Island Resort is located within easy walking distance of the islands main, tourist beach, but far enough away to give it a secluded and relaxed island atmosphere.
