Locals say that Shelly bay Bermuda was named after Henry Shelly, one of the crew of the wrecked ship of Sir George Somers. Somers was the first to come to Bermuda by the ship named Sea Venture and started the British colony in this island. The ship got wrecked on a reef near St. George.

I have been to Makena on day where 12 foot waves were breaking in 3 feet of water. When this happens, the lip explodes, throwing water spray 15 feet into the air. About 3 feet over the people standing near the break. Pretty awesome, but dangerous, too. Still, Makena Beach is a wonder [...]
