DT Fleming Beach Park
Fleming Beach is a better option as it's less rough. Then spend the day beach-hopping through Kapalua, Napili, and Ka'anapali as you make your way south. Fleming Beach is a good one for families. At the south end of Kihei, the Kamaole beaches are excellent as well. When conditions are rough, Fleming Beach is not ideal for families with small children who like to play in the surf. However, when things are good, Fleming can be great!
Generally, the waters are good for swimming and snorkeling, but sometimes, off near the sea cliffs, the waves are big enough to suit body boarders and surfers. Caution needs to be taken when swimming due to the steep slope of the beach that causes a backwash even during calm seas.
Do not surf close to where locals have been fishing all night because there will usually be a lot of bait in the water. Watch out for divers coming ashore and trailing there fish behind them. With serious consequences if you bail in big waves. If you stall out your kite on a big wave and get slack lines, get out of there, go sideways if you can, but you do not want to get wrapped in your lines.
Retire to Four Mile for excellent food and beer. This site is backed by a stand of ironwood trees and the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Facilities available at Fleming beach include showers, restrooms, picnic tables and a telephone.
