French Riviera Beach

The private village of Castellaras-Le-Vieux is just 15 kms north of Cannes in the hills between Mougins and Valbonne. This romantic medieval village is home to one of the largest private contemporary art museums. Catholic weddings in Saint Paul de Vence can be held in the Collegiale de la Conversion de St-Paul, an impressive church that was built during the 12th and 13th centuries. Many French Riviera villas include staffing, private pools, and modern amenities woven into their slow-paced, country frames.

Finally, see the sea side croisette of Cannes. He began to spend his winters there, and because of his fame, others followed, and Cannes soon had a small British colony. The “Iles de Lerins” are two large islands that lie just off the coast of Cannes. Ile Sainte-Marguerite is the larger island and is covered by a pine and eucalyptus forest.

Opened in 1971, this highly acclaimed park, located just out of Cannes, was specially designed to let its animals live in as natural a habitat as possible. Admission is $11 adults, $7 ages 10 and up, and under age 3 are free. Drive along the famous boulevard of Cannes where the yearly Film Festival is held. Eat lunch in Mougins, birthplace of Lenitre and known for it gastronomic restaurants. Cannes, too, has a fabulous beach, with a classy vibe, and you just might see a movie star. But if it’s real star power you want, or even royalty, venture to the beach at Monte Carlo.

Nestled between Nice and Cannes, Antibes has a down-to-earth ambience — rare for this area. Its old town charms are wrapped in a rampart and watched over by twin medieval towers.

The 2 mile long, white powdered sand beach is protected from the Atlantic waves by a reef, and the bottom has a very gradual slope. The area has been recognized as a marine reserve, so snorkeling in the marine park is just incredible. The outside looks like a Provencal house, and the inside is pure though unexpected Matisse. It’s the right place for a very nice stay. The housekeeper has already turned on the air conditioning, it’s nice and cool. One of biggest cities located in the French Riviera, Nice, has their own international airport. If you’re coming in from one of the European countries, this will not be any problem at all. St Tropez is a lively town, full of grand culture and shopping during the summer and can be a nice hideaway during the winter months. Hotels abound and some great bargains can be made if you plan far enough in advance.
