Sindhudurg is supposed to have some of the best beaches in India and Tarkarli beach in particular is mentioned by many as a particularly lovely beach to go to. Tarkarli’s reputation is one of clear waters that allow one to snorkel and scuba dive, which is interesting because to the best of my knowledge there is no other mainland beach in India that is good for watching the world underwater. Visit the Sindhudurg Fort at 09.30 hrs and enjoy a walk on the Tarkarli beach at 12.00 hrs. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the beach resort and then spend some free time at the beach doing absolutely nothing at all. From jetty you proceed to Tarkarli beach resort for lunch and leisure time for outing and shopping. After lunch Back Water Cruise through the Tarkarli creek up to Kalse Jetty followed by a visit to Sawantwadi town by bus to witness fabulous lacquer handicrafts, paintings and furniture at the “Shilpagrama” in the town.
From jetty proceed to Tarkarli beach resort for lunch. You are free to spend some time at this beautiful location. Tarkarli Beach is one of the most famous attractions of the Tarkarli city, which is sited at a distance of approximately 6 km to the south of Malvan. The location of the city, at the confluence of the Karli River with the Arabian Sea, makes it home to one of the most picturesque beaches in India. Tarkarli Beach This is a queen of Sindhudurgas beaches known as tribhuj pradesh here beauty lovers can see rare geographic combination of Karli river & sea of Devbagh. With sky, sea & sand blend in a enchanting natural harmony.
We reached Malvan town at about 7:30 PM and then took the small road towards Tarkarli. Since we had not made any reservations, it was decided that we will try our luck at the MTDC resort first. The buses go upto Malvan and then there are local share rickshaws who provide service. Please provide me your details like your email address or contact number. Malvan is a fortified island on the coastal reef and patches of coral have been recorded. Head out scuba diving to catch a glimpse of the amazing corals.
Tarkarli is easily accessible from Malvan by bus and rickshaw. By road, Malvan is 514 kms away from Mumbai, 200 kms from Ratnagiri. Indeed a perfect place to enjoy the mouth-watering ‘Malvani’ cuisine and then unwind. If your Malvan memento is likely to be fish then you might be wise to carry an ice box, for fish as you know has a way of really making its presence felt!
Situated 6 kms south of Malvan and 546 kms away from Mumbai on the coast of Maharashtra is Tarkarli. The mojar attraction here is the long and narrow stretch of beach, with its pristine water. Pimpal is considered sacred and holy and has been in malvan for as many as sixty years. From the station, a luxury bus will transfer you to Malvan Jetty. From there you will take a boat ride to the unconquered ocean fort of Sindhudurg.
