Just south of Barcelona, you’d be smart to join a beach-party at Sitges. Laid back and old-world, yet high-energy, Sitges (rhymes with stitches) is popular with European families and gay visitors who harmoniously enjoy the resort area’s many charms. Sitges is home to 17,500 year-round residents, but in summer attracts three times that number, many of whom are gay tourists flocking from Barcelona, as well as all the rest of Spain and Europe, to enjoy the Euro-crowds, cobblestone streets and proximity to the beaches. The lively but pretty coastal town of Sitges on the Costa Daurada, south of Barcelona, is a hugely popular haven from the city. Surrounded by Barcelona’s green belt, the Parc del Garraf, and boasting 17 sandy beaches, it’s sometimes referred to as the St Tropez of Spain.
The farther north you go, toward the Costa Brava, the more pristine the beaches tend to be, though this rocky coast specializes in tiny calas (coves or inlets) rather than lengthy strands. Although there are fewer undiscovered beaches here than along Spain’s Atlantic coast, the Costa Brava retains a sense of rocky wilderness. One of the more eccentric-looking villas along this coast belonged to the late Salvador Dali, the region’s most famous modern son who lived much of his life near Cadaqu’s.
Barcelona in particular is becoming increasingly popular among couples who are looking to celebrate their wedding in an original and distinctive way. The city, located on north-eastern Spain’s Mediterranean coast, has a year-round sunny climate providing an excellent setting for the bride, groom and guests to enjoy their event to the full. You can get there by train/bus but car is easiest. Follow the signs to Gava Mar and you’ll pass by some strange post-industrial nonsense and several road-side hookers before you make it to the sweet little town of Gava Mar and the sweet, isolated, long, beautiful beach.
Although the tendency for many tourists is to head to Barceloneta which is closest to the city centre, the beaches stretch for several kilometres along the Barcelona coastline and each has its own distinct characteristics. Nova Iciria and Bogatell Beach are those closest to the Port Olimpic area with its small marina, choice of bars, shops and restaurants. This stretch of coast is actually marked as a nudist naturist beach but actually we do not see many.
Most of the areas have lifeguards and Red Cross stations during the summertime and offer a beautiful place to relax with friends and loved ones in the winter season. At the Port Olimpic during the night, you will find an entire beach side strip filled with clubs and music from all over the world. This beach offers good facilities for handicapped, beach umbrellas and hammocks rent, bus stop, restaurants, bars, parking, public phones, sport areas, children’s games. Some activities that You can enjoy and practice are beach sports, jet skiing, windsurfing, sailing and beach sports. Move-It move people with confidence from all areas of Europe now including the Balearic Islands (Ibiza , Mallorca and Menorca ) specializing in moves to France and Spain.
