It’s funny to think that on an island as exquisite as this, some Maui oceanfront villas can have location advantages over others. One way to feel confident about a particular area’s attractiveness as a vacation spot is the existence of luxury hotels and spas. The 6,840-yard par 72 Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course is designed much like the courses built centuries ago in the British Isles, as its holes take full advantage of the natural, sloping island dune terrain. That is why creativity, finesse, strategy, and good shot-making are all part of the Dunes experience. North, you’ll find spectacular Kaanapali Beach, one of the most amazing outdoor playgrounds on the island. It combines stark natural beauty, incredible snorkeling, and every imaginable watersport opportunity, with an array of great eateries, pool side bars, and more than a mile of soft, sandy beach.

Polo Beach - Wailea

A beautiful stretch of beach south of Wailea that is good for swimming. There are two beaches — Big Beach, which is the main one, and Little Beach, which is over a hill at the north end of Big Beach.

This is both a great walking beach and a superb swimming beach. This half mile long beach is backed by private homes, and the surf is usually gentle. This area has more coral than Ulua, but you need to swim a little farther. Good area for beginners and intermediate.

Wailea Ekolu sits on the golf course, and many units have lovely views across the course and down to the ocean. Although this is one of Wailea’s older properties, many units have been refurbished.
