In summer the whole Cote de Azur with Nice and Cannes becomes the most fashionable and prestigious beach resort. You do have Spain close by, mostly visited in summer is also very popular beach destination with its resorts of Costa Brave, Costa Dorada, Costa del Sol. Le Toucan, the original and prestigious restaurant of the Goldstar resort & Suites, the piano bar and the rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of Nice makes it one of the trendiest hotel on the French Riviera. The hotel possesses 133 guest rooms totally and all of them are nicely decorated with modern facilities such as mini-bar, ADSL, refrigerator, fire detector and satellite TV. For the business travelers, the hotel could provide 6 different sized meeting rooms.
The restaurants were very nice too, although we found better value in the town, we had a few nice meals at the hotel. The rooms were fine but nothing special, although many of the rooms were being renovated while we were there, so I’d expect the quality to improve. The room we had was very nice and comfortable with a huge bathroom and a big balcony. The TV worked, but there weren’t any western channels-but we don’t go on holiday to watch TV anyway. I would describe the Novotel rooms as nice.
It was very large and clean with a nice view of the pool, ocean and airport. I did not have any problems with noise from the planes or the discos across the bay. The location of the hotel was wonderful .directly on the beach and near nice shopping and good restaurants of all price ranges. With the exception of the yellow-colored water in our sink (with a chemical smell), it was perfect. There was an indoor pool which was nice for doing laps. You have to remember that this isn’t the Caribbean so the beach left a bit to be desired rough, brown sand, rocks and rough surf.
Atmospheric sea view lounges, bars and verandas, fusion and Mediterranean cuisine restaurants, private kiosks by the pool and other unique facilities and amenities, the ideal venue for both leisure and business travelers. After its recent complete refurbishment, the hotel today is the favorite spot of meeting planners.

I’m just back from a trip to Nice which is a fantastic place. You have NO need of a car - there is a fantastic new tram system that took years to build and goes everywhere. You’re right about the beach - its pebbles and you need to buy those neoprene beach shoes to wear to go down into the sea.
The markets are amazing - antiques right thru to fruit. Nights are balmy with street entertainers etc. The old town or “vieux Nice” is atmospheric with streets that feel as though you could reach out and touch the other side.
Great post!
