You can snorkel in waist deep water while hand feeding playful stingrays, tropical fish, and even sea turtles, or dive along the Cayman wall leading to the mile deep Cayman trench. Over 300 shipwrecks make the area a treasure hunter’s dream. The beach was 100 yards away and when you got there it was only 12 feet wide and 8 feet from wall to water. Just go 3 miles north to the public beach it is beautiful. You’re able to see the “Walls” that divers speak of where the ocean seems to drop-off to an endless gray abyss. For those who prefer to stay above, there are Glass Bottomed boat rides available in Georgetown. The North Wall features spine-tingling drops that may bring about panic, until you realize you’re floating, not falling. The East End contains many of the island’s least-explored sites.
This beautiful swath of white sand separates 5 miles of hotels, condominiums, and restaurants from an aquamarine sea. Dotted with casuarina trees, this beach is the most popular spot on the island. The Marriott Resort Hotel on Seven Mile Beach was small, as far as “resort” hotels go, but it certainly served all our needs. We used our hotel points for our stay and the all-inclusive food & bev package. Hotel staff can however, prevent you from gaining access to a beach via their property (use one of the public footpaths), and they can also ask you not to use their loungers and chairs.
Carved along a serpentine waterway with sweeping views of the North Sound, Blue Tip at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is the first course to be constructed on the island in 10 years. All units have either an island view or a partial ocean view. It’s pretty cool, too, because the hotel actually spans across the highway -- well, part of it. It’s near where the Hyatt used to be -- before hurricane Ike took it away.
Just remember, on Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, that the cruise ships bring their visitors here, too. There are times when the beach will be down right crowded. But remember too, that you have seven miles to deal with. Lots of room.
On site amenities also included are maid service, lighted tennis court, gas BBQ grills, gift shop, laundry facilities and a free temporary World Gym Membership! The onsite dive shop, 7 Mile Watersports, offers everything from certifications, one/two tank dives, sunset cruises, even a three tank East End trip including lunch. There is also a tennis court on site. A library is stocked with boardgames and books. This is where most of the tourists stay when they visit Grand Cayman, it’s easily accessable to different parts of the island, but this is also where all the action is.
A private beachfront gazebo offers a cozy atmosphere as you witness unforgettable and ever changing sunsets over the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy the best of both worlds! The Britannia Grille is solid golf course restaurant that serves lunch and dinner, while Hemingways is a perfect beachfront setting. The Rum Point Club serves up only local Caribbean cuisine and plays live music on the weekends.
