Belvedere

Guarda do Embau Beach is regarded as a hide-away in Brazil. Close to the clear and strong-tided sea attracts tourists from all over the country, specially surfers who consider Praia Brava the ideal place for the sport. From the belvedere on the road that takes you to the beach, the landscape shows the wild beauty and a paradisiacal view of Praia Brava. The northern beach resorts Jurere, Daniela, Canasvieiras, Brava and Ingleses get very busy during the summer and there are plenty of hotels, restaurants and other conveniences for the tourist. Eastern beaches, like Joaquina, Mole and Mozambique are among the best surfing beaches and popular with young people.

Still, the main treasure of Floripa is hiding somewhere else: the untouched beach of Lagoinha do Leste, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. It is a fascinating place hidden between two mountains and there is no access to it by land. The architectural design of the new airport was chosen by a public competition held by Infraero in partnership with the Brazilian Architects Institute (IAB). Among the over 150 original entries, the proposal of Sao Paulo architect Mario Bizelli was chosen. The beach is 3-4km in length, terminating at the south end 1.25km south of the home at a rock point known to be one of the best surf points on the island (and, hence, all of Brazil). Also at this end of the beach is a nice and inexpensive seafood restaurant with a large outdoor patio and a spectacular view.

Close to the centre is the house where Victor Meirelles was born, one of the authors who devised the first mass spoken in Brazil. The main reason for this is the high standard of living, at least by Brazilian standards. The city provides its residents with good infrastructure, schools and health care, and as tourism increases the number of hotels in Floripa increases, as other tourism services increases the local job market. More and more Brazil vacationers are deciding to stay in privately-owned vacation rentals instead of Brazil hotels for both comfort and savings on their vacation. In 2002, when current affairs magazine Veja declared Florianopolis the best and safest place to live in Brazil, others flooded in. Today, more Brazilian and South American tourists head to Floripa on their December breaks than anywhere else in the country except for Rio, and in summer the regular population of 330,000 swells to more than a million. While unquestionably Brazilian, Florianopolis has some strong European accents as well, something that is reflected in the greater organization, cleanliness and safety of the city as compared with some other parts of Brazil . This blend has also had a strong influence on the appearance of the people, who are known as some of the most beautiful and exotic looking anywhere in the world. A special beach to know people, to meet friends and, undoubtedly, to see some of the most beautiful women in Brazil. Mole is also the beach of sports.
