Crescent Beach

In beautiful surroundings the beaches of South Ponte Vedra Beach area are a great option when staying near Jacksonville, Florida. It make sense to visit these if you want to get away from the crowds and the run-down downtown area of Jacksonville.

This part of the county has some of the highest income and the homes show it. Conversely, it’s a chore to find where you can get to the Atlantic Ocean shoreline.

And this is an area of the state where you won’t be crowded out by the locals who flock on the weekend or holidays. It’s long and there is enough beach here to find your own piece of paradise.

The sand is tightly packed and like most sand in Florida, pretty white. And on the Atlantic, you’ll even get some surf when the winds are right.

In Spanish and Portuguese this beach means Factory, but we’re not sure where the name came from and none of the locals knew either. Usina Beach is accesses in two places - at a ramp across from a private campground (North Beach Campground, popular with RV’s) about three miles south of the state park and a parking lot about a quarter mile south of the ramp in the 2900 block of Highway A1A.

At the former, the ramp is open 5 AM till 10 PM, but driving is impossible at high tide and unreasonable any other time. Use caution whatever you do. It’s not fun to be stuck with Mother Nature.
