Kayaking

Probably one of the most picturesque beaches in Key West is Smathers Beach. It’s well known to the locals, but if you’re coming down from Miami and looking at a map, you might just pass it up. And this is one interesting (if not THE most talked about beach) picks in Key West because as with anything, many opinions. You’ll find vendors offering everything from beach chairs to umbrellas to jetski rentals and a few things in between (parasailing, kayaking, etc).

There’s nothing big about big about Grand Beach and that’s fine with us. You may even be one of the few out there for a bit on any given day except weekends because of the location. Like secluded? We do, too. The sweet part is that the water here and sand are simply unbelievable. The open bay makes this an infinity pool of sorts that almost overloads the senses. Grab the beach towel and a good book, or take the camera because Grand will not disappoint.

Lanikai Beach, Oahu, Hawaii

by Dave Jackson

Lanikai Beach Oahu

When you arrive in Hawaii you are probably drawn to Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach, but Lanikai Beach on Oahu is in a class all its own. It has everything you’d expect in a beach, plus the beauty of the surrounding terrain. Most likely you’ve seen this beach before in publications or postcards and didn’t realize it was right here on the most popular of the Hawaiian Islands. Yes, you’ll find a lot happening at Waikiki, but if you want to see something that is not too publicized in all of those tourist booklets this is something you want to plan. In fact, if you can spend a whole day here, you’ll see this beach wake up and live through a day of surf, sun and sand. Speaking of sun - make sure you bring plenty of suntan lotion! You’ll want to spend some time getting your vitamin D!
