Beaches of Goa India

by Dave Jackson

Goa India is appropriately famous for its beaches, and westerners have been flocking to the beaches of Goa since the early ’60s. Travel to the magnificent beaches of Goa and add a fantastic flavour to your Indian beaches tours. Goa India is an endearing abode of scenic charm and many tourist spots intricate churches and temples, evergreen hills and mountains. Touring Goa will involve exploring sensuous beaches and historical forts that have kept the legacy of Portuguese alive. Good food and wine is served (albeit a bit costly according to Indian standards, but considering the absolutely great music they play and the ambiance, it’s worth it).

Palolem Beach Goa India

by Dave Jackson

One of the prominent beaches in the South Goa beach circuit, the crescent-shaped Palolem beach is well-known for its sweeping expanse of silvery sand and idyllic surroundings. With the majestic Western Ghats hills rising in the backdrop, the palm-fringed Palolem beach presents an enchanting spectacle. Palolem Beach is long beach now entirely filled with rooms and huts (150-400 Rs.) and restaurants, sometimes with live music. There’s also a market for tourists. My final stop and the best beach by far was Palolem Beach. It was the ideal picture of a beach.

The main attraction of Ganpatipule beach is quiet and picturesque which has remained untouched by tourist traffic and its natural treasures and beauty of the best way. Whether you make a romantic evening stroll or simply for a quiet, blue waves lap gently your feet and white sand will get you to sandcastles! Ganpatipule beach is a treat to watch, its unmatchable beauty is simply awesome. In addition, widest range of green floras adds to the prestige of the place.

Tarkarli Beach Konkan India

by Dave Jackson

Sindhudurg is supposed to have some of the best beaches in India and Tarkarli beach in particular is mentioned by many as a particularly lovely beach to go to. Tarkarli’s reputation is one of clear waters that allow one to snorkel and scuba dive, which is interesting because to the best of my knowledge there is no other mainland beach in India that is good for watching the world underwater.

To the northwest, about 10 kms away, lies the Nalasopara village, the erstwhile Konkan capital from about 1500 BC to 1300 AD. Nalasopara is believed to have been the birthplace of the Buddha in a previous incarnation. And from Gosaba it is a lovely cycle rickshaw ride through charming Bengali villages and then another boat ride to Sajnekhali. That there is a village by this name and it is blessed with a heavenly seashore with a clear view for miles across the blue waters was not known to many. But thanks to the new, shorter road being built to connect Ratnagiri and Ganpatipule, Arevare has found a place for itself on the tourism map of Konkan.

If you read most websites, you’d think Goa, India, was the center of the planet as far as beaches are concerned. And it’s not bad - it’s just not the Seychelles or the peaceful Caribbean. In fact, South Anjuna beach is arguably where more LSD has been taken than anywhere else on the planet. It was the scene of the Goan full moon parties of the 60′s and 70′s and is still one of the last strongholds of the original freaks. Anjuna beach is well connected by regular state and private buses from Panjim and Mapusa. Tourists can also hire motorcycle taxis and auto-rickshaws from Mapusa to reach Anjuna. But as beautiful as this place could be, there are dogs and flea markets and a seedy side to the whole place.

Baga Beach Review, Goa, India

Baga Beach is a beautiful rocky beach situated on western coast of Goa. It is an extension of the Calangute beach and is surrounded by beautiful cliffs and lovely coconut and palm trees. Baga Beach is at the center of the Bardez coast, bordered by Calangute beach to the south and Colva to the north.

The southern end of this long stretch of pristine sand can get crowded and one can find Goa Tourism hotels stand stately over the noisiest part of Baga Beach. Baga beach is especially popular amongst the foreign tourists. Baga Beach is surrounded by beautiful scenery and of course the Baga Beach Shacks that serve cheap traditional Goan cuisine of fish, curries and rice.
