The beach itself is not that large, but it is large enough for the main activity, which is mostly watching the windsurfers, kite surfers, and surfers.
The Ho’okipa Lookout is a small parking lot on a bluff overlooking the beach. The consistent trade winds and seasonally large surf make the Aloha Classic the most popular destination of the windsurfing media, spectators and athletes.
This event is the crown-jewel of wave sailing. Be aware that access to windsurfing is denied at many beaches and certain restrictions may prevail at accessible beaches.
Along the coast (of course), between Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux is spectacular Pereybere Beach. The waters here are deeper than most of the lagoons that surround Mauritius. Because of that, there is a deeper blue hue to enjoy.
Pereybere Beach is a favorite among the young people. Because of this, it’s a “happin’” beach. Noted as the fun beach, Pereybere is fuller during school holidays and weekends. Sand soccer games and kite surfing along with some great swimming keeps everyone in shape on Pereybere.
If you’re looking to get totally away from all the action in Buzios, Tucuns Beach is the place to be. But be prepared to really be away from it all.
Now, there are a few serious developments in here. Someone woke up to the potential of resorts on this beach. There are a few problems that Buzios still has to address. First, this beach is near a few less developed towns. Secondly, Tucuns sits off the peninsula and needs better policing.
It’s one of the better surfing spots of Hawaiian beaches, Mokuleia Beach will be full of locals any time the surf is up. Watch for repeat vacationers, driving from Honolulu. Why? Six miles of sand, 150 feet wide from Kaiaka Bay to Camp Erdman. When you come here, expect a few kids. This is the local hangout of the teens growing up here and it’s simply filled with good, clean fun.
