Quartz Sand

Coopers Beach in Southampton, Long Island, New York was selected as the #1 beach for 2010 by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, who is known as “Dr. Beach” and is the director of Florida International University’s Lab for Coastal Research. How did Coopers Beach get named number one? Well, it is ideal as a clean, family beach and Dr. Beach said he made it number one mainly because people don’t know about the nice beaches up in this area. There is a variety of accommodation in Coopers Beach including beachfront self-catering motels and suites, and several bed and breakfast options.

Siesta Key has a youthful spirit that is drawn to the glassine waters and quartz-crystal white sands, which have been officially ranked as the “finest, whitest sand beach in the world.” Siesta Beach is energized. Best of all, though, is giving in to afternoon “siestas” in the sun, either swaying on comfy floats atop gentle waves or on shore near the lapping waterline. Siesta Beach is one of the largest beaches in the area, but its of land might not have become the wide and deep expanse of public-accessible beachfront they are today. A fellow named Kiesow could be credited with single-handedly making certain that this beachfront—then, as always coveted by real estate developers and builders—would not later become filled with homes, condos and hotels, as are much of the rest of the Gulf of Mexico’s beachfronts.

Panama City Beach - Florida

Panama City Beach - Florida

Panama City Beach, or PCB, as it’s known is the new Spring Break Capital. And they know how to pick ‘em. We found over 26 miles of unbroken great white sand that extends from St. Andrews State Park to Phillips Inlet.

You’ll find that on a sunny day, the vision on polar-white sand and emerald-green sea is irresistible to anyone above ground.

Panama City Beach is among the more beautiful along the Panhandle shoreline, where blinding white sheets of quartz sand meet the clear emerald water of the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is a healthy width in most places - we found thanks to the renourishment projects (necessary because of hurricanes, which did their share of stripping away in the 1990′s).
