Got to the resort, it was nice. In fact I really don’t have too much bad to say about the resort. The beach was nice, but not as beautiful as one would have been at Aruba or the Bahamas. The worst thing about this resort is the customer service. The Bavaro pool, although very nice, could really use a paint job. It is a zero entry pool, and gets very slippery around the edge as the day goes on.
I think in a few years, after a little “americanization”, including the food, the place would be much nicer. The staff of the resort do not speak English very well, but they were very nice. I thought I would be bored when we went, but eight days of relaxation was wonderful! The beaches in the town of Playa del Carmen are still very nice, although we’ve had some issues mainly by the Gran Porto Real resort next to the “illegal” pier. Unfortunately, Playacar, where most of Playa del Carmen’s resorts are located, has really seen a lot of beach erosion.
This less fancy section of the larger resort complex that includes the Iberostar Bavaro and Iberostar Punta Cana hotels is designed for groups and families who don’t expect top-notch luxury. This hotel is closer to the Punta Cana than the Bavaro, making the shared facilities between these two more convenient. Situated on the beautiful, fine sandy beach, Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus Hotel has everything you desire for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in the sun. The fishing village of Bayahibe is 3 miles away, and La Romana approximately 16 miles. I’ve been to this hotel twice and it’s fantastic. I’ve been to Grand Flamenco as well twice and that’s great as well but more for young people.
The resort, beach, and surrounding countryside are absolutely beautiful. The people were extremely friendly. This all-inclusive resort allows guests to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the buffet-style restaurant, which features an open kitchen, chefs-on-display centerpiece. For dinner in one of the specialty restaurants, reservations and formal attire are required. The most appealing part of this resort was certainly the beach! Lots of cabanas and chairs to relax and soak up the sun!
The resort offers a wide selection of 616 luxurious air-conditioned guest rooms in 9 connecting 3-story buildings. A majority of the rooms provide full views of the Caribbean Sea and the most magnificent scenery in the Dominican Republic. The grounds are home to flamingos, peacocks, and other birds, and are dotted with tall coconut trees, including on the artificial island in the resort’s large pool. The beach area is spacious and beautiful, with deep powdery sand and plenty of loungers and umbrellas (and more coconut trees). The pictures I’ve seen don’t do the resort justice. There were multitudes of paths with trees and flowers and fountains.
