Slightly fewer make it to nearby Filitosa , greatest of the many prehistoric sites scattered across the south. Although San Lucianu is not an adult only resort there’s enough space to escape and find a secluded spot in which to relax. And because the kids’ clubs are well away from the beach, you’ve plenty of piece and quiet. La Croix-Valmer is probably the most pleasant of the resorts, and St-Tropez is a must – for a day’s visit at least. Inland, amidst the dense wooded hills of the Massif des Maures , are the gorgeous ancient villages of Collobrieres and La Garde Freinet.

The west-coast has rough conditions, while the eastern part of the island has more moderate conditions. Good windsurfspots are hard to find on the east-coast because of the constant West-winds.
