A Maldives House

The visitor’s first glimpse is usually from the air - a breathtaking rhapsody in blue, from the dark turquoise of the Indian Ocean to the crystal azure of lagoons lapping golden rings of sand and clumps of coconut palms. There are 1,192 islands in the Maldives stretching for 511 miles from north to south and as the arriving jet zooms low to find the runway protruding into a lagoon, every one of them appears priceless. Each of the three restaurants, set amid verdant vegetation or affording stunning views of the ocean, offer their own style of cuisine. Providing totally unobstructed views of the jewel-blue waters, an Ocean House is the ultimate choice for privacy and tranquility. With a hardwood deck stretching out right over the water, you will be lulled into total serenity by the gentle lapping of the waves breaking over the reef below.

Indian Ocean’s most precious jewels, the Maldive Islands have fascinated visitors from all over the world. It’s fragile environment and the clear blue depths of its vast sea has drawn scuba divers from around the globe. The Indian Ocean has a great effect on the climate of the country by acting as a heat buffer, absorbing, storing, and slowly releasing the tropical heat. The heat is further mitigated by cool sea breezes.

Which resorts are really worth staying at? What dives sites shouldn’t be missed? The beaches and the reefs around the resorts are superb for snorkelling. The beach in front of the villas lets you indulge in the bubbly warm soaks of shallow lagoon any time of the day. It’s all about the details when you?re in the company of award-winning neighbors like the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa, a dual-island property that comes under their luxe Conrad brand December 18. The recently refreshed resort also debuts new butler service, plunge pools and a private yacht for charter.

The islands stretch for about 820 km from North to South, 130 km at the widest point and each does not exceed a length of 4.5 miles or an altitude of 6 feet above sea level. Groups of these islands are clustered into ‘Atolls’, the word derived from a word ‘Atholhu’ in Dhivehi, a Maldivian language. What many people don’t know is that that further north you go, the more lush and green the islands become. So while Manafaru is fringed by those exquisite, powder-white beaches for which the Maldives are famous, it also has a jungle-filled interior ripe for exploration. This allows guests the chance to fly over some of the most beautiful Maldivian islands. The Beach House not only benefits from having some absolutely stunning natural beaches but it also has a wealth of vegetation which is very rare in the Maldives.

Hospitality has been an inherent part of Maldivian culture and a part of island life. It has always been a land where visitors are welcomed with open arms, where people are ready to share. Over 50 islands lost their fishing boats. Health clinics, hospitals, and schools were damaged on 53 islands. A spa on an island of its own offers soothing Asian secrets. Sunrise, sunshine and sunset paint the endless sky.
