Maui and Kauai Contrasts

by Dave Jackson

Maui is an amazingly diverse Hawaiian island with 7 unique regions — each with different climates, geography, residents and visitors that give it a unique personality. The recurring themes regardless of the region are the natural beauty of our Island and the Aloha Spirit. Maui is such a “volcanic doublet”, formed from two shield volcanoes that overlapped one another to form an isthmus between them. Maui is well known to have some of the very best luaus in the State of Hawaii. We highly recommend you take one in while you’re on Maui but remember to book early as some of the very best Maui luaus are often booked many weeks in advance.

Kealia Beach, Maui

Maui has dozens of fabulous beaches to satisfy everyone’s tastes. There are long, undeveloped sandy beaches, like Big Beach and Kealia, family-oriented beaches with lifeguards to protect you, like Kama’ole I , Kama’ole II , and Kama’ole III , as well as developed beaches with high-rise hotels right along the shore, like Ka’anapali Beach . If anything, it is a further layer of protection for our couples, as they can rest assured that only licensed, fully insured wedding professionals will be conducting their romantic Maui beach weddings and vow renewals! Spectacular views from spacious covered deck Short private path to world’s greatest windsurf beach. Short or long term.

Kama’ole Beach III, Maui

Kauai is the island to visit after Maui. There is no other island like it in the world, it is lush beyond from the millenia turning a volcano into deep rich soil. Flowers and Joys Kauai is a full service florist, lei shop and gift store located in historic Down Town Kapaa on the beautiful island of Kauai. Established over 15 years ago Flowers and Joys has achieved a reputation for providing elegant high style island designs and quality customer service. Kauai is officially spelled “Kaua’i” with the backward apostrophe indicating a glottal stop (the way air stops in the expression “oh-oh!”). A definitive pronunciation for Kaua’i is harder to find but most sources say, “ka-wa’-ee” with the glottal stop between the wa and the ee.

Poipu Beach, Kauai

On the south side of the island you find the towns of Poipu, Koloa, Hanapepe along with sandy beaches and lots of sunshine! The southern side of the island of Kauai seems to be more popular for both residents and visitors alike. We are located on the north shore of Kauai, with beachfront access on Hanalei Bay near the Na Pali Coast, world renowned for its incredible beauty. Secondly, we incorporate traditional Hawaiian values into our program.

Koloa Beach, Kauai

Whatever their original source, Kauai is now home to thousands of wild roosters and hens, roaming the island with few natural predators. Wild roosters have been known to disturb evening quiet time at odd hours with their crowing.
