Sunshine Coast Beaches Australia

by Dave Jackson

The thing will blow you away about the Lower Sunshine Coast is the amount of sub-communities that are sprinkled along Hwy. Walk a half a mile one way out of Sechelt and you’re in Selma Park. The Sunshine Coast is a popular waterfront destination with endless moments of marine activity and wildlife viewing opportunities. Days end on the Sunshine Coast with hours on hours of relaxation and begin with days on days of exploring. Ferry rides at each end — the lower section of the Sunshine Coast stretches 80 kilometres from Gibsons to Earl’s Cove — give it a decidedly island feel.

Sunshine Coast is the shop where I take all my tourist friends. This place has the biggest selection in rolling papers in the city, and the highest quality selection of glass pieces anywhere in the bay area. Sunshine Coast is home to a variety of wildlife and marine life. To catch a glimpse of them, tourists visit the esteemed Australia Zoo, which is home to the world-renowned Irwin couple and a wide variety of animals. The Sunshine Coast is also host to some great surf carnivals, triathlons and marathons.

The community boasts a first class recreation centre , an 18-hole championship golf course , a curling rink , tennis courts, a 400-metre track, as well as many baseball and soccer fields. Powell River offers world class salmon fishing, trout fishing , hiking , diving , canoeing , sailing, walking and kayaking . Bald eagles and great blue herons soar overhead as cruise ships float by! After a spectacular sunset, the lights of Nanaimo glitter across the water as night falls. The rivermouth, which is a kite surfers paradise, was once the site of a large timbermill from where the local lumber was shipped to Brisbane by paddle-steamer. There are river cruises, and great fishing opportunities in this aquatic paradise.

Sunshine coast: shark alert, everyone out!

Unbeatable accommodation next to the beach. Beach Hideaway Bed and Breakfast , is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. A perfect getaway from Vancouver, for couples looking for quiet, luxury accommodations, in a romantic Sunshine Coast B&B.

It was only in the 50s through the 70s when places such as Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum and Noosa became popular holiday destinations for the locals. From there onwards, the permanent population has grown to such a degree that the beach towns have formed what is known today as the Sunshine Coast. For artists, it is a haven from which to explore the prolific works of local artists or to indulge your own muse through frequent artist workshops, tours and artist retreats. For photographers, inspiration can be found in the captivating and colourful surroundings. Noosa is becoming recognised internationally for its art which ranges from witty sculptures of industrial finds to dramatic paintings, the works of many of the local artists can be found in serious collections internationally. With libraries, cinema complexes, museums, heritage and historical places of interest and learning opportunities throughout the area, you’ll return home enriched from the experience of the Sunshine Coast.
