Just a few feet past the Maui Lu entrance, turn right on Wailana Place and follow to 26 at the end of the road on the right. Turn left and travel south for one mile then turn left on Wailana Place and follow to 26 at the end of the road on the right. This is a great little seaside park with a gorgeous view across Lahaina Roads to the islands of Lana’i and Moloka’i, and it’s also a popular destination for surfers when the waves are up. Unfortunately, much of the shoreline in this section has been “protected” or “stabilized” with seawalls and revetments . Park on shore side of the road onto an unpaved small parking area.
It has severely limited parking along the road. They’ve clear cut the land and we’re concerned about potential run-off from heavy rains. Unbelievable ocean view, along with the largest floor plan in one of the new buildings, best of all-no road noise. This has to be one of the best Maui Kamaole units in the entire complex. We kept driving towards La Perouse and some of the one lane roads can be difficult to navigate. We drove past the lava fields and enjoyed the view of La Perouse.
This small park offers the opportunity for a wedding under an old Banyan tree and photographs on the beach. However, there is construction underway in front of the park and beach. After the ceremony, photographs are taken in the lush tropical gardens which have narrow pathways leading through them. Garden fee for up to ten guests $150.00. Oceanit collected historical aerial photographs of Palauea Beach from various sources. These photographs included the photographs used by Maui County to determine erosion rates and setbacks. Each photograph was rectified using photogrammetric methods to make the photograph dimensionally correct.
For those who want to enjoy the ocean, diving, surfing, and snorkeling are popular activities as is swimming in certain areas. You can catch a clear view of Lanai island from this beach and take advantage of the conveniently located restroom, shower, and picnic facilities. Tours include a continental breakfast and lunch, snorkeling equipment and instructions. Select from several types of boats or rafts. Swimming and snorkeling here is ok but if you swim around the rocks east, you will find some great snorkeling. Beware of strong offshore winds here.
This is a great beach for snorkeling and scuba diving where you’ll find shallow caves and crevices, and lava arches. The area is populated with reef fish, and turtles. Come snorkel with dolphins, turtles, and an infinite array of colorful and amazing fish. Sailing, scuba diving, submarine rides, parasailing, and endless other activities can be found just off Maui’s shores. This beach is one of the busiest beaches of Maui and offers visitors snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, windsurfing, and parasailing. Flemming Beach, located in the Kapalua area of West Maui offers ample shade as ironwood trees surround the area.
The best locations for snorkeling and scuba diving are at the north end of the beach following the length of the beach. During calm seas you may be able to snorkel all the way around the cinder cone, but be mindful of currents and come up to check if you are still on track. This lava sand beach is near one of the snorkel boats “Turtle Town” areas. It is a great place to see the green Hawaiian sea turtles. We know the weather, water conditions and where the best snorkeling spots are for marine life viewing. Lunch is served along the way on a remote beach where you will enjoy the simplicity of your experience.
