Best Beaches in the US

by Dave Jackson

Hawaii has to take first place. One of five beaches within Wailea Resort, Wailea is big, wide, and protected on both sides by black-lava points. From the beach, the view out to sea is magnificent, framed by neighboring Kahoolawe and Lanai and the tiny crescent of Molokini. Our panelists had plenty of options, of course, since the US stretches from the more protected waters of the Caribbean Sea to the wilder Pacific Ocean. But their task becomes more difficult each day. From there, you can also go to the Isola Bella, a protected marine area. It’s possible to arrive in Fort Lauderdale leaving from Jupiter, through the Intracoastal Waterway, for a great distance. Here’s Wailea Beach!

Visit the beaches and enjoy one of the top California beach experiences, but don’t limit yourself to staying at hotels at the beach in Santa Cruz. Expand your horizons and check out Capitola, as well. The once remote fishing village of Marco Island is an interesting stop for visitors on the four-hour drive from Tampa to the beach. And while some of the best and most developed beaches are found along the Gulf Coast, for a more remote beach adventure visit the secluded beaches of the southwest Florida coast for a memorable time. However, if all you want to do is have a really good time, then visit South Beach with its fun culture and lush vegetation. Here’s Marco Island, Florida.

St. Croix has one of the longest beaches in the Caribbean at Sandy Beach, which is also a nesting area for Sea Turtles - so its only open on weekends and closed during hatching season for the Leatherback Turtles. But don’t worry, there are over 30 other beaches on St. Croix. There are a lot of both, though, so get here early during summer months to stake your spot in the sand.

To answer that question, we turned to our well-traveled members, who’ve toted their beach towels and flip-flops everywhere from Cape Cod to Cape Town. Just in time for summer, we bring you their diverse list of the world’s best beaches. The warmer waters of False Bay and the safest swimming beach in the Cape make Fish Hoek very popular. Nimble little hobie cats with colourful sails are often launched and fishing boats can sometimes be seen coming and going.
