Al Bustan Palace Hotel & Beach Review Muscat

by Dave Jackson

It is easy to see why the Al Bustan Palace is rated as one of, if not the finest of the Oman hotels resorts. We stayed in an Arabian Junior Suite which was very spacious and beautifully decorated, with amazing views of the sea, the mountains and the lovely gardens. The Al Bustan Palace is an oasis of grandeur, hospitality and unashamed luxury and is sure to impress even the most discerning guests. The hotel has a private beach, 2 swimming pools (one for adults only), tennis courts and a Spa. A private beach, spacious swimming pool, tennis courts, and putting green are all available for guests to use at their leisure. It is supplemented by 4 resurfaced outdoor tennis courts. Catamaran sail boats are also available for rent.

Tennis Club guests can enjoy a drink from the juice bar and relax on the terrace overlooking the tennis courts. Hotel amenities include the Al Bustan Private Beach, outdoor swimming pool, kids pool, gym, windsurfing, kayaking, scuba diving, sailing, tennis, mini-golf, and beauty salon. The hotel also offers concierge service, a tour desk, free parking, a gift shop and newsstand, currency exchange, a florist, laundry facilities, dry cleaning, and 24-hour front desk service.

A choice of bars and terraces give an option to dine al fresco and enjoy an aperitif or nightcap at the waters edge. Dine on fish, stews and meats perfectly seasoned with a combination of Indian and African spices. Local Bedouins create traditional handicrafts while the delightful sounds of folkloric music play in the background.

Every measure has been taken to preserve the hotel’s long celebrated history and majestic splendour whilst heralding a new era for Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat. The scope of the hotel’s restoration work encompassed a complete upgrade of the entire property including; lobby, beach and garden area, sports facilities and most of the property’s guest rooms and suites.

There is a free minibar, complete with decanters, and free laundry service. Here’s a look at the fountains and patios on our way to the beach.

Located on the coast of the Gulf of Oman amid spectacular mountain scenery the Al Bustan is truly outstanding resort. Set amid 200 acres of gardens and private beach front the Al Bustan was built to entertain visiting heads of state. Wireless Internet coverage is provided by WiFi and Omantel networks, across the whole hotel. All that’s required is a laptop with wireless connectivity capability. Earlier, the rates were very low in Oman. Oman is now is in the big league but is still very good value for money. It is close to Muscat and the commercial centre and enjoys spectacular views over the Gulf of Oman. Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat hotel has 250 luxurious rooms and suites, each with its own private balcony and most with spectacular views over the Gulf of Oman.

The beautiful, kilometre-long beach is the principle attraction and becomes the natural heart of the hotel during the day. A range of water sports, including scuba diving and windsurfing are offered here. Situated eight kilometres from the downtown business district, this hotel is identified as the Jewel of the Sultanate of Oman and the Middle East. Al Bustan is also close the commercial centre and enjoys spectacular views over the Gulf of Oman. This hotel is brilliant. Lifeguards are always on duty by the pools, snorkelling with clownfish, no eels, no jellyfish, no harmful sharks.
