We’ve had some of the craziest weather for 2010 including record warm temperatures and a few tropical storms. Globally, we’ve had flooding out of the ordinary because of this strange weather. In spite of all this, people are still flocking to the beaches of the world.
And this season is no different. To help you select a beach near you, we’ve showcased a few of our favorites that are pleasant in the fall (northern hemisphere). So far a few of you have written us your choices.
So what beaches made our list this year? We were after nice beaches that are perfect for strolling, maybe even enjoying a dip in the ocean one last time (except for our beaches in Hawaii and other tropics), and beaches that could be enjoyed after the sun goes down.

North Wildwood Beach, New Jersey - If you’re anywhere around the Jersey Shore area, this is a must visit beach for the fall. In fact, there is so much to do here, you may not even make it near the shoreline. Waters tend to get chilly early evening, but don’t despair, you’ll have three amusement parks to choose from featuring some of the best roller coasters on the planet. Morey’s Piers is inviting and quite possibly where your parents hung out, too!
Hamoa Beach, Maui - How could you possibly not come to Hawaii at least once in your lifetime during the fall season? The weather is delightful and the Road to Hana on Maui couldn’t be any more inviting. Striking sunsets along with breaching whales just offshore make this a wonderland set for you and your loved ones. And Hamoa Beach is what inspired world known author James A. Michener to call it the most perfect beach in the South Pacific.
Prince Edward Island, Canada - People come here to enjoy the fall weather and golfing but what set it apart for us was the lush agriculture that you can’t miss on your way to wherever you’re staying here. And if you leave without a picture of the famous lighthouse, you’ll be disappointed. Sure, the beach is not brilliant white, but offers grand opportunities of strolling and taking in the gorgeous Canadian sun. After dark, enjoy the unique and unforgettable culture PEI has to offer.
Jacksonville, Florida Beaches - They’re numerous, but stretch down the eastern coastline of the Sunshine State of Florida and in the fall, you’re in for a treat. Not too far from the northern states, Jacksonville is just south of Savannah. And it has its share of old turn-of-the-century homes that make it a jewel on this beach-lined peninsula. Shopping is awesome here, along with long strolls on the beach and the piers that jut out into the deep blue Atlantic Ocean.
Crystal Cove, Barbados - A hop, skip and a jump from mainland USA, the island nation of Barbados thrives in our fall season. And the beaches are all different and breathtaking, but Crystal Cove here caught our eye because you can kick your shoes off and stay at the nearby all-inclusive resorts. No need to wander far with everything from boogie boards to umbrellas, and family friendly accommodations. Plan a fall vacation to the Caribbean and check out Crystal Cove.
